Animals are only vulnerable to killing based on our understanding of them. Eating them means eating their way of life, their understanding, and even their way of death. Most butchers are not ungrateful, and their killing of animals is a farce by all standards.
The paradox is enormous between your age numbers and the ages of your ancestors, who had a chance to understand what is going on. Unlike your bad luck, you have an abundance of information with a very short lifespan due to cooking food.
